birth control post partum

hey mommas. im 7wks post partum and started my birth control pills 2 1/2wks ago. according to the pills im not due for a period to start until another week (give or take a day). but today i had brownish bleeding like the start of a normal period and been hormonal and crampy the last few days. so im guessing my period is starting despite what the pills say. will i have two periods? one really long period? is this common or not? i have not missed a single pill and take it religiously every night at 10pm.

It's only been 7 weeks. Your body just went through a huge hormonal shift and now you're introducing fake hormones on top of that. You have to have some patience because it takes a while to recover from pregnancy and having added the pills could either help or make it take longer. Don't expect things to get back to normal so quickly. Your body needs time to recover from the trauma of childbirth.

When you first start on the pill, it's normal to have spotting and breakthrough bleeding until your body adjusts to a normal cycle.
