Ovulation test strips aren't very reliable. You may only have a window of a few hours before you ovulate that the hormone is detectable so it's easy to miss it even if you test everyday. Learning to read your other fertility signs will tell you with certainty whether or not you are ovulating and also when you are. It really is worth the effort.

hmm that's interesting. I have used ovulation calenders and not sure how effective those are. I know i didn't ovulate last month i did a ovulation test until i got my period. This period was normal and on time so i a hoping to ovulate.
There isn't an easy answer to that because every woman's cycle is different. The only way I am aware of is to track and chart your fertility signs. You will need to do this for a few months until you can see your own pattern. If you search the internet for FAM birth control you should find all the info you need.
Once you read about it and undertstand the signs you are looking for it gets very easy to chart. The main thing you do is take your waking temperature every morning and record it. On the day after you ovulate your temperature rises slightly. That's how you know it's happened. There are other signs such as your cervical muccus and position.
I have successfully used this method to identify my fertile days. I wanted to get pregnant and I did. If I was using it as birth control I would use a barrier method such as condoms until I was very confident that I understood my charts.
You can use this website to log and track your fertility signs. It will generate your chart for you when you input your info every day. Medhelp has a smartphone app that I have started using too. I'm able to input my info before I get out of bed.
Thank you.. I thought our ovulation days were longer then one. And when are you fertile? is it right after your period?
Sperm can live inside you for several days, so if you have sex on the days leading up to your ovulation day, you can become pregnant. You only ovulate one day per cycle (sometimes two eggs may be released a few hours apart). Your fertile days include the days leading up to your ovulation day.
Hope this helps!
