contraception options

hi everyone (:
i need a bit of help, i've been looking for all the different types of contraception options over the internet but i swear not all the options were there. could anyone tell me for sure what they all are?
i want to start using one and the implant always seemed like a good idea.. no way of getting pregnant, lasts 2 years, no period, it's free..... amongst other reasons. but my friend got it and at first, everything was fine and she says it's good but she put on at least 20 kilos and i really don't want that, she's unhappy about it now. so i'm not sure... i know it doesn't happen to everyone though but i don't really want to risk it.
and my mum has told me i can't really go on the pill because my family has a history of problems one of them being blood clots, she's just found out she's got them (she was on the pill for YEARS) after nearly dying.
i definately don't want the patch, i really don't trust it.
and i'm not sure about the ring, but i'm considering it...
what do you all think?

i have heard great things about the nuva ring!!  Nothing but great things...its really up to you..you should really sit down with your doc and talk to him about the different methods i myself will be going on the nuva ring after im done breastfeeding with this baby when he/she arrives!! Then you should also use condoms with w.e b.c you choose as not everything is 100 %! Then if you really cant decide theres always abstinence! lol
