skipping a period

Hi
I have been taking birth control pills for about 6 months. I am on the second day of the red (placebo?) pill. I found out I have to go away for the weekend and would like to skip my period. Is it still possible to do so?

Yes, You begin taking a new pack of pills right away. I do this sometimes although I notice a week or so into the new pack I have some light spotting. I don't think it happens to everyone though.
