Hey i am currently 26 weeks pregnant with my 4 th child due to my copper IUD failing. I feel pretty cheated by it as my partner and i only planned to have 3 children but i am learning to deal with it and am loving my new unborn child. My partner has now had the snip and i will be having my tubes tied. To be double sure next it doesn't happen again

Hi there!

Irregular periods and amenorrhea (lack of periods) is a common complication of IUD’s, which is more common with medicated IUD’s. However systemic issues such as hormonal/ endocrine related or other systemic abnormalities may need to be ruled out as well. You may still consider an evaluation by a gynaecologist to rule out other possibilities; to be on the safer side.
Hope this helps.

Take care.
