Allergy Development During Chemo

Good morning, I am 9 days post taxotere/cytoxan, treatment #3. I woke up Friday  4 a.m. with hives over my body, from head to knees.  I decided to go to the ER in fear of progression.  I was afebrile, may ANC was 320.  When discharged from the ER I was given prednisone, diphenhydramine and zantac.  Assuming this is an allergy driven event, I would like to know when my immune system stabalizes, does the allergy go away? ;)  Thank you ahead of time. :)

Thank you for your input.  I am assuming that the hives are caused by my cats, I did not discuss with my medical oncologist yet.  I was wondering when my WBCs get normal, will I no longer have this allergy.  From what I'm seeing on your response, if it is an allergy to my cats, It will not go away.  I've had my cats 10 years and never had an issue prior to chemo?

Dear OgdenValley:  Hives all over the body sounds like an allergy but the question would be what the allergy is to.  Allergies do not typically “go away,” so your doctor should review the situation, determine the possible source and determine what to do next.
