Dear cinnzabar:  You may be referring to two different things.  Dense breast tissue is common, particularly in young women and can make mammograms difficult to interpret.  Having found a density in a breast means that there is an abnormality that requires further investigation.  In many cases, these resolve with spot compression.  You would likely benefit from a discussion with your doctor who can explain what is going on in your case.
