Can anyone shed some light on this?

I just got my mamagram magnification view report " extensive cluster of microcalcification at the superior mdeial right breasts demonstrate suspicious pwodery appreance and right biopsy is recommended"; also the left side" relatively punctate appearance to the scattered microcalcification mostly compatible with dystrophic, benigh process. However, given the nature of right side, random stereotactic needle sampling in the region is also needed to consider."

I am very anxious now, i don't have any family history and my breast side is considered small. I don't know how this happened? what should i do now? do i choice not to remove my right breast? it is really awful ....what's difference between biopsy and stereotactic needle?

My family doctor is referring me to surgeon to get biopsy done. I am waiting and very scared! help me!!

Can you tell me if i need to change my diet, such as reduce calcium in-take? " micorcalcification" means calcium deposit, doesn't it? please advise! thx!

Lynn.

I don't think that has anything to do with it, but ask your doc.   Vicki

The nurse only answers the initial question, but here's my two bits after doing research for my own calcifications. You don't need to reduce your calcium intake. No one is sure why the breast lays down microcalcifications. One theory is that with malignant/premalignant conditions, there is an abnormal production and turn over or death of cells. With cell death, calcium is a by-product. BUT, calcifications are also a normal part of aging, or can be caused by injury to the area. The majority of microcalcs are benign. According to California Pacific Med Center, only about one out of four women with calcifications thought to be concerning enough to warrant a biopsy, has a breast cancer, usually at an early and very treatable stage. So, it may not be cancer. If it is, it's most likely a very treatable cancer or precancer. I know waiting for biopsies and results is really hard. Trying to find pleasant and positive things to dwell on really does help, but I know your mind will still go back to the worry at times. I've been there 3 times myself. I'm one of those who now has scar tissue, and we have finally come to the conclusion (after 3 benign biopsies) that my previous biopsies have caused more suspicious, but benign calcifications to form...

I wish you ladies the best and will keep you all in my prayers.

Thank you very much, Montana girl!

I have been told that I need to be cautious about biopsy. Because the tissues and structure of the breasts may be damaged and become easily infected and cancerous after biopsy. That said, Cancer may grow under the scars where the mamagram is hard to detect by radiologist. Have you heard anything of it? what's your thought

I am seeking for second appions of my mamagram magnification view reports regarding the suspicious extensive clusters of microcaltifications. The appointment has been made to see a surgeon next wednesday , i can't wait to see her....

Thanks for the prayers and let us pray together and wish all ladies the best.
