breast pain

Okay so for four weeks now (roughly) my breast have been super tender and irritated. It hurts to wear a bra, and sometimes even painful to take a shower (can also be soothing just cause of the heat and pressure). It's painful to lay on my stomach and it's also painful to hug people or even touch my books in general. Going on week four I am very frustrated because I have no idea what's going on. Yesterday a new symptom occurred where the pain in the right breast radiates to the armpit and is pretty painful but only last a couple mins and goes away. This happens maybe twice a day, depends. I'm also going to go ahead and include that my last two AF's were abnormal. Being extremely light for three days and then ending in the months of October and November. What could be going on, what are some diagnosis that could be the reasoning for this pain in my breasts? P.s I am not pregnant, I have taken several home tests and both said negative. I do not have insurance until Jan 1st and trying to hold out until then. Please help!

I always had very painful breasts due to what they called fiber cystic breasts. I have been that way for as long as I can remember and some days the pain was unbearable. My doctor told me to cut out all caffeine and it would help. I have been caffeine free for 20 plus years and it does help reduce some of the pain. Even though I still have painful breasts it is a lot better. I can hug again and wear a bra without discomfort. Go ahead and try and see if that gives you some relief.

Breast tenderness isn't all that unusual .. it can be caused by several things. Cysts can develop and be painful as well as Fibroadenomas; both of which are benign findings. Often it might also be related to hormone levels in the body. It is also very rarely associated with Breast Cancer. I would certainly think you could see your Dr. for a clinical breast exam and then hold off until Jan. to have any tests that might be advised. Since both breasts are involved, anything terribly serious isn't very likely.  Regards ....
