I had a mammogram a week ago and have been called back saying they need spot compression mammo and ultrasound as they found a subareola mass or clogged duct. I am flipping out it is cancer! I have a history of cysts and very dense frbera cystic breast tissue.Do I have reason to believe this is breast cancer????????????? I am 49 years old with no family history of breast cancer but a history of cysts/

At this point, you don't know enough to determine what has caused the obstruction.  Having dense, fibrocystic tissue means that you will probably sometimes need additional tests to rule out something more serious.
At this point, you should take one step at a time and not let yourself dwell on the "what-ifs".  Whenever we get a call back on a test result, it is scary.  Focus on what you know is true, because most of the time, the things that worry and upset us most, do not occur.

Have the spot compression mammo and the ultrasound and see what they show.  If there is any question, your doctor will order further testing, such as a biopsy to determine the nature of a suspicious area.  Waiting for tests and results is hard, but soon you will know what is there and if there is a need to treat it.   I am thinking of you.

Hi,
It's very common to be called back for a spot compression mammogram.
This lump could be anything, maybe an abscess, cyst, fibroadenoma or other benign finding. It just needs to be further evaluated for better diagnosis.
Most lumps found in the breasts are benign in nature,so please don't jump to any conclusion by thinking it's cancer.Hopefully it will be nothing serious and that you'll get favorable results.
Best wishes...
