I had an MRI with the dye. As bonniclyde has stated, the dye is to help contrast different aspects and give a better picture. My MRI was only done on both breasts. I had an IV placed just prior to and then laid on this bed, belly down with my breasts kind of dangling through these two holes. The IV was hooked up to a very long extension cord so at the appropriate time, the nurse could give the injection with out removing me from the machine or stopping the process. Pretty slick I thought. The machine was very loud and even though I was able to listen to the radio, with headphones, it is still very loud. The entire imaging and dye adn more imagining took about 40 minutes. I had no reaction to the dye and could not even tell or feel anything when it was injected. I got my results back in less than i week, which lead to my continuing saga. I hope your results are very helpfull and nothing else is needed.
I just felt a little warm all over. Some people feel absolutely nothing. Is it a complete body scan? They usually give you more dye for that. Very rarely someone has a reaction to the dye but not often. I had to drink some kind of radioactive drink before the procedure. Once they got me in the room and hooked me up to IV the test only took a few minutes. The dye is pumped in really quickly. The dye lights up abnormalities so radiologist can better see what he is looking at. Hope this helps.
