New Lump

October of 2001 I was diagnosed with BC.  Had a modified radicaol mastecomy, nodes were negative, and lump was contained.  It was ductal and 3 cm in size, I was 34 years old.  Afterwards I received 5 sessions of chemo,  Doxorubicin (Adriamycin) and Cyclophosphamide ( Cytoxan ) combination. Today, Nov 2002, I found another tiny lump almost at the same site, near the surgical scar.  What are the chances of the can recurring or am I being paranoid?  I will however be getting it checked.  In the meantime what is your opinion?

Hello mom of 4.
I am awaiting results of a core biopsy, the same situation as you desribed in your November post. How did things go for you? This new questionable area for me is within 6 months of finishing treatment.

Just wanted to give you some encouragement.  My bc and treatment was quite similar to yours but I had a lumpectomy.  This August, 9 months after my treatments were completed, we found a small lump on the incision. To me, it felt exactly like my cancer had felt to the touch so I was extremely worried.   A core biopsy determined that it was nothing to worry about--essentially fat tissue.  More than likely yours will be nothing serious also but do pursue it until you know exactly what it is.  Good luck!

Dear mumof4:  It is possible to get a local recurrence of breast cancer.  Hopefully, this will turn out to be something else but you are doing the right thing by having it checked.
