When is swelling too much?

Last Wed (3/12) I had a mastectomy followed by Latissimus reconstruction.  I have been doing better each days, but this morning when I woke up my breast felt unusually more swollen and tight.  When do I call the doctor?  Is this somewhat "normal" after sleeping?  I am sleeping more now, but also using the arm more now (like to type).

Also, the doctor mentioned I could switch from percocet to Advil, especially during the days as he pain gets better.  Will taking advil over percocet help reduce the swelling?

Hi,

You need to call up your doctor now. Any post operative side effects or abnormal findings should be reported to your surgeon at the earliest.

Were lymph nodes removed during the procedure?

Let us know about how you are doing and what your surgeon advises.

Keep us posted if you have any more doubts.

Regards.
