black spot on milk gland near nipple

What could one black or very dark spot on the little gland around the nipple be? It doesn't hurt. I hope it isn't cancerous and am very afraid. It has been there a week according to my husband. I noticed it today and he hadn't said anything, he thought it was dirt or something. I had a mammo done a few months ago and it was normal.
thanks,

Hi,
If you have no other symptoms except this little dark spot on your breast,I doubt very much that it's an indication of breast cancer.
The skin of your areola, has sebaceous or oil glands called Montgomery glands.Occasionally they can get clogged with dead skin cells and some amount of dirt, just like pores on your face or any other part of your body.Washing with an antiseptic soap and keeping the area clean and dry could help clear it up.If this problem persists,I think it's best to have this looked at by a dermatologist who can prescribe medications to prevent dead skin cells from accumulating and also to remove oil build up.
All the best!

I went to my family practise doctor today and he said it was a clogged gland (Montgomery) and he literally  picked it out and it is gone! Yeah! Thanks for easing my anxiety.

Oh good thanks so much. I did some reading last night and saw what you said. I don't feel any lumps so I hope it is a clogged gland. I'm going to my GP Monday to have him look just in case.
It helps so much to get reassurance.
thanks again,
