fibrocystic breast disease

I posted a question yesterday and mentioned that I was going to go to the doctor. I went and he did the exam and said it feels like I probably have fibrocystic breast disease. He said i have several small & swollen (and yes, slightly tender) nodules in my 8 & 9 oclock area. He said the area was bumpy. He ordered a mammogram but they cant get me in for another 2 weeks on the 30th, so just to ease my mind a tiny bit and to keep me from having a nervous breakdown until then, i was wondering if that is what it sounds like. I was also wondering if in any cases you are aware of, if breast cancer ever appears in that form or is it always just one single lump? I am around a week or so from my period and he says thats why they are acting up. Yesterday was the first time I have ever vistited that doctor and I dont know anything about him, thats why im 2nd guessing everything he said. I had these symtoms last month but thats it. No previous breast tenderness at all. I am 25 with 2 children. Is it common to strike up all of a sudden like that and especially at my age?
Also, I figured that around the time I have the mammogram done I will either be at the end or finished with my period. Will that effect anything from what he felt yesterday? If it is infact FBD will the nodules have shrunk by then? Im sorry for all the questions, im just trying to find a way to get through these 2 weeks without worrying 24/7. Thanks so much for your time.

Anyone with fibrocystic breast disease will benefit from reading the work of Dr. John Lee and his use of using Natural progesterone cream which has been successful in treating this "disease" usually within 4 months.  I am using it in place of tamoxifen as it opposes estrogen.  I am also using the diet recommended by Professor Jane Plant "Your Life in your Hands" and I am now a vegan and feel great.  I had a grade 3 tumour with 2 positive lymph nodes 2 years ago with so far no recurrence.  My radiologist noticed my breast tissue is far less dense now than 2 years ago which I put down to the diet.

Good luck

I'd add that a mammogram at age 25 is often not very useful: at that young age tissue tends to be very dense because of the active glands, and lots of shadows appear, which can be hard to interpret. So don't freak out if you get a report that's equivocal. However, what you describe does indeed sound like fibrocystic changes and not very much like anything serious. If the doctor you saw was not a breast surgeon, it might be that at some point it would be useful to see one to ease your mind. But painful lumps that are worse premenstrually and are multiple are very typical of fibrocystic lumps, and not at all typical of cancer. The symptoms have to begin sometime, and it's rare to see them younger than the early twenties; another thing that goes along with fibrocystic changes in your case.

Dear JayDee_936:  Breast cancer is not usually painful and usually does not present as "lumpy."  Lumpy usually is associated with fibrocystic breast disease which can be common in young women.  Caffeine will make this condition worse.  At your age, it is highly unlikely, given the symptoms you describe, that this is breast cancer.  Hopefully, having the mammogram will ease your mind.
