It doesn't matter how young or old you are if you feel that there is something wrong see a doctor and
ask for a mamogram and or a unltrasound just so that you know for sure and can put your mind at
ease.
Breast cancer can occur at any age. My sister was diagnosed when she was only 17, and it was too late as she never had it checked out by a doctor. If you have any breast abnormality it is important to see your doctor. More and more young people seem to be getting this disease, so please be cautious.
Hi,
What is most important is that you have to be aware of vertain facts - do you have a family history of breast cancer? Do you the correct method of a breast self examination? Are you having any of the risk factors associated with breast cancer - OCP use, HRT use, obesity etc? All this followed by a regular 6 monthly or annual clinical evaluation by a physician should be good at your age. Goodluck.
While it is true that if there is family history, we need to be somewhat more vigilant, but that does not mean that no family history lessens our risk...in fact...80% of women diagnosed with breast cancer have no known history...if you are concerned that something is wrong..see a doctor. Do not let anyone tell you you are too young.
