cluster of microcalcifications benign?

i would like to know if anyone has ever had a biopsy result from a birad 4 (suspicous) mammo report cluster calcifications that was benign. everyone on this website who had cluster microcalcifications on mammo all seem to have had an outcome of cancer, even though they say that 80 percent are benign. the more i read on this i get more terrified.

I am glad to have found this site.  Have yearly mammograms and have just had two small clusters of microcalcifications found at "11 and 12:30 o'clock"  Had MRI, nothing difinitive.  I now need to schedule a biopsy with surgeon.  Have choice between general surgeon and one who specializes in breast care.  The latter will require some travel but from reading your comments about the biopsy procedures it seem to me that an expert is the way to go.  I too am very nervous at this point...

I am scheduled for my biopsy in 2 weeks, Dec. 15.  So I am interested in other's experiences.  I have indeterminate calcifications, and when I saw the digital x-ray at the time of the scan they looked pretty clustered and odd shaped to me, so I was not surprised to be called for a biopsy.  We have digital but the radiologists do not do the categories here, odd.  So will have to wait.

Hi, I am 52 years old and just had my first mammogram. The radiologist found a few micros on my right breast. I will undergo the needle biopsies which are done facing down through a hole in the table. Is that correct. My mammogram was on October 28th and I am having the needle at the end of November.I find this is long waiting period. Is that normal waiting time. The doctor also said that the worst scenario is it could be pre cancerous. I am a little freaked. Pleaae reassure me.

This is my first visit and reading your discussions about microcalcification has given me great comfort.  I am scheduled to have an open surgical biopsy on November 8 for the cluster they found in my left breast and all of the questions, fears, etc., that I have were pretty much addressed by Corkey!  Corkey, I'm thankful your results were benign and I appreciate learning through all of you.  The waiting is hard.
