discharge from niple

I am 29 a year and a half ago after the birth of my daughter I had a discharge from my left breast 4x and the right1x..I would happen when I wasn't wearing a bra I would see a tiny drop on my nippple. I went to a breast spec who did a prolactin and a nipple smear..both were neg..I had also a mammo the month before it started and that was neg..the discharge stopped for 14 months and this past month happened 1x..I went back to the doctor and she said it would keep happening..the discharge is opaque and if I squeeze my nipple It comes out of a few spots but when it occurs sopntaneously I can't tell what duct ...my question is its been a year and a half since this started could this be related to a breast cancer? would it stop for over a year if it was serious? my doctor is not concerned ..if there is no blood and abnormal cells could this still be cancer? it's happened a total of 5x on left side and 1x on right../

I also have had a discharge from my right nipple. It only occured once but I am still worried.  This happend about two months ago.  The more I have been reading the more worried I am getting.  The discharge was like a light green color and my right nipple was sore for two days after that.  It has not occured since but I am still a little figid about it.  I go to the doctor next week but if anyone has an opinion about this now I would love to hear one.  I was sick once with a different type of cancer when I was 8yrs old. I am now 24 so I have been in remission for a very long time.  I pray that this is not something extreme.  I just got married and I want to continue to be in good health.

Hello.. i am 23 years old and yesterday night when i squeeze my right nipple i notice a very small amount of clear-watery discharge come out of only one duct in my nipple.. then i squeeze again and again and again.. some watery fluid came out as well but in small amount.. then stoped.. i keep squeezing my nipple but nothing came out.. I see my doctor on Friday which was checked my breast for other reason and he told me that everything was ok. No mass, no nothing.. I read that the watery-clear discharge may be symptom of a cancer and im really worry.. The duct that the dicharge came out is no in the center of the nipple. Please also note that the past week i was really frequent squeezing my breasts all the time. i dont know if this has any relation with the discharge.My discharge was also really thin, i have no mass on my breast, no pain. but im really worry. Please also note that im taking thyroxine because i have only one gland of the thyroid and also that im in my last days of my period.. Please reply me !!!! im desperate:(

My name is Tina.  I am 39 years old.  I also have Sjogrens, which can affect the fluid producing glands of the body.  For more than six months, I have had a spontaneous discharge from my right nipple.  I would wake up in the morning with up to three spots on my nightshirt.  Once it happened during the day at work.  I didn't have any pain at the time, but now I do have tenderness around the nipple area.  The discharge is sticky and a sort of yellow/green color.  I read something on the net that if it is a cyst you can try to drain the duct, which I did try by squeezing my breast.  Just a few day ago, I saw blood mixed with the discharge, which was a first.  I aslo have discovered lumps in my right breast close to my armpit, that have no tenderness, that has gotten bigger, but never gets smaller so I don't think it's hormone related.  They don't move around either, which I read can be a non-serious condition.  The lumps have also been there for about six months and came before the discharge.  Now I have discovered lumps in my left breast last week.  I have no discharge in the left breast, nor do I have any tenderness.

I am scheduled to see a doctor on the 15th, but was hoping for some insight before I get there so I might ask informed questions.

I'd love to know...did they do testing on your mom?

If the discharge isn't an indication of cancer, what is the most likely cause?
My mother is in her late 50's and has had a spontaneous discharge, but her doctor believes it may be related to a duct misfunction?

Not yet, but the doctor has told her that the lump will need to be removed regardless of whether or not cancer is present.

as was said, the kinds of discharge that are the most worrisome are when it's bloody, or clear watery; and when it's spontaneous, and from one area of one side only. What you describe does not sound serious. It's actually best not to keep squeezing to check. If you are consistently having spontaneous discharge without squeezing periodically, then it ought to be checked again. Even then, the chance of it being due to cancer sounds extremely remote. Spontaneous bloody discharge, which is the most worrisome of all, still is due to non-cancerous causes most of the time.

when you say keeps on happening it happened a few times and then stopped for more than a year..is that still suspicious?

Dear renie, Many women have some type of nipple discharge or fluid when their breasts are squeezed, and its normal. Squeezing the nipple sends message to the brain and the pituitary gland responds by increasing prolactin levels, which in turn produces discharge from the nipple.  The discharge can come in a variety of colors
