do a b/p on rad mas side?

I had Breast Cancer 20 years ago on left side and had a radical mastectomy done.  Now I have cancer once again and had a radical mastectomy on the other side.  My son told me he heard that blood pressure cannot be taken on an arm that has had a radical mastectomy done.  The doctor said its o.k. on left side because its been 20 years.  Is this correct?

Hi,
There are few schools of thought regarding this.
As axillary artery is not divided or ligated, the arterial flow is not impeded to the arm and
should pose no problem in measuring blood pressure.

Its in reference to taking a b/p on an arm that has had a rad mast.  Some med books say its a no no.

Hi,
Sorry could not understand the question.
If it is regarding measurement of the blood pressure following radical mastectomy, then there are no specific contraindications to this.
Blood pressure can still be measured. The only time it cannot be possible will be in Lymphoedema which develops in post mastectomy phase.
