male swollen nipple

My friend is 50 yr old male, he suffered a motorcycle accident resulting in a couple of fractured ribs.five to six weeks after the accident he got back on the motorcycle and rode a short while. It was windyhe had a loose fitting sleevless t shirt on that was beating against his chest. His right nipple became inflamedswollen and very sore to the point where he couldn't stand nothing to touch it, we applied topical antiboticskept it covered for two weeks, this barley helped, he then took a prescripiton of antibotics by mouthit has gotten some better, but he is still having flare ups where his clothes irrate it, at it's worst it is swollenand yellowish behind the nipple, no lumps around the surrounding breast tissue or under the arm, no breastpain, only the nipple when it touches something.I thought i read somewhere about infection from rib trama or chest trama maybe causing sometype of infection to migrate to the breast, maybe not.... we are at a lost as to what this could be,

I've currently got the same thing - my left nipple is tender, and somewhat swollen, with a little red dot, where an opening is. I stay in a lot o hotels and sweat a lot at night. It might be hard sleeping drenched in sweat. Either way, I've just now put neosporin on it, and might get it checked if it does not go away. The other nipple seems fine. I'm 35 and eat well, exercise but drink beer daily. Just not sure what it is.

Hi.
From your description, it seems that your male friend has an infection in the area of the nipple that caused the pain and swelling.  Organisms can be introduced when there are breaks in the skin.  These organisms can proliferate and result in inflammation.
You should have it checked by his doctor.  Appropriate antibiotic should be started.  Pain relievers can also help.
Take care.
