thank u bunches I will call my OB tmw :)
You welcome nikki,
Yes it's true that mastitis happens most often in breastfeeding women but it can also happen to women who are not.
I think that an ultrasound test would be valuable to see if it could also be a cyst or an abscess that's causing the pain you are describing.
Take care...
thank u so much.. I had lot of prb in the past with infection in other breast.. How is it that u can get mastitis if not breastfeeding I thought thats how u got that.. Just worried this is not my only health issue, waiting for my labs on my pap to see if there is still CIN2 there and I am dealing with a blood clot in my leg. I had been having pain on the side of my breast and dr checked it last week like I said and he said all felt fine. sorry very flustered I keep having prbs. thank u so much for ur help.
Hi,
This sounds like a breast infection (mastitis).I think that you should be seeing your doctor again or a breast specialist who may decide to prescribe an antibiotic or order an ultrasound test which can provide a clear image of the breast tissue and may be helpful in distinguishing between simple mastitis and abscess or in diagnosing an abscess deep in the breast.
In cases of infectious mastitis, cultures may be needed in order to determine what type of organism is causing the infection so that a specific type of antibiotics can be prescribed to cure the disease.
Please see your doctor to further investigate this problem. There is a type of a rare breast cancer that can present like breast infection.
I doubt that this is the case in your situation, because you don't have other symptoms that usually presents with this type of rare breast cancer, but it's always better to make sure.
Wishing you all the best.
