nipple burning pain

Im a bit freaked out here.. I have had prbs with my breast before like infections that lead to 2 surgeries and it lanced 3 times. now this is my other breast and its a burning pain in the nipple that sometimes shoots throughout the lower part of the breast. I have just noticed a dime size red spot just to the right of the nipple and its feeling warm to the touch. the pain is much worse when the nipple gets hard (cold). Im not sure if I just some how irritated it or if I should be seen??? I just had a breast exam last week. Does this sound like something I should be worried about or get seen?? someone plz help me :(

You welcome nikki,
Yes it's true that mastitis happens most often in breastfeeding women but it can also happen to women who are not.
I think that an ultrasound test would be valuable to see if it could also be a cyst or an  abscess that's causing the pain you are describing.
Take care...

Just worried this is not my only health issue, waiting for my labs on my pap to see if there is still CIN2 there and I am dealing with a blood clot in my leg. Hi,
This sounds like a breast infection (mastitis).I think that you should be seeing your doctor again or a breast specialist who may decide to prescribe an antibiotic or order an ultrasound test which can provide a clear image of the breast tissue and may be helpful in distinguishing between simple mastitis and abscess or in diagnosing an abscess deep in the breast.
In cases of infectious mastitis, cultures may be needed in order to determine what type of organism is causing the infection so that a specific type of antibiotics can be prescribed to cure the disease.
Please see your doctor to further investigate this problem. There is a type of a rare breast cancer that can present like breast infection.
I doubt that this is the case in your situation, because you don't have other symptoms that usually presents with this type of rare breast cancer, but it's always better to make sure.
Wishing you all the best.
