maybe Inflammatory BC2

Hi, I’m not sure why I was prescribed the Imuran. I know that sounds crazy, but I had been having swelling in my hands, legs, knees and lots of joint pain. The Doctor thought that he would try to see if I had arthritis. My RA facts were negative and the only thing he said is that my CRP and ESR were high when he checked. No other reason or response was provided.  I noticed that my breast were streaking red and hot to touch and I was wondering if that was a reason for my CRP and ESR to become high. I have not had an ultrasound of the breast and lymph nodes yet. I am trying to get someone to listen to me. I also had what I was told viral colitis last year and that the virus also affected my heart ever since then I was plagued with the inflammation of my joints. I have yet to still get a definite diagnosis. I was just wondering if that could be the cause of those test results. Thanks for  helping me.

Hi,

I suggest you seek consult with a medical oncologist and have breast imaging done. As mentioned above, you have a strong history of breast cancer which increases your risk inspite of your young age.

Continue breast self examination. Discuss with your physician previous viral colitis and joint pains. A rheumatologist may be able to help you rule out SLE and other autommine cause.

All the best.

Hi,

I feel you should check out the colitis; joint pains; heart symptoms and discuss them out with a specialist - these could be inter - related; all can be explained by an autoimmune etiology.

But you need to consult a specialist for this.

Do you have any other skin changes elsewhere?

Has crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis been ruled out? Were tests to rule out SLE (systemic lupus erythematosus) or other autoimmune disorders done?

Well having a strong family history of breast cancer puts you in the high risk category. You need to consult a breast specialist for your symptoms and get an ultrasound and MRI done.

A mammogram would not help because of your age, the breast tissue would be more dense.

It would also help if you could describe what heart symptoms are you talking about.

Do let us know about your progress.
Hope this helps.
Good luck.

Hi candy,

ESR and CRP levels are deteminants for inflammation in the body. These are nonspecific markers that point  to an underlying infection or inflammatory process. Solely, an ESR or CRP is not used to make definite diagnoses.

Have you had a mammogram done?

How old are you?

Any history of cancer?

A complete physical examination and breast imaging techniques may be requested to determine the cause of the breast swelling and tenderness.

Do you have children?

Have you breastfed before?

I wish you luck and keep us updated.
