thanks again. no other symptoms are present so I'm feeling better. Will have to see what the Dr says now.
Hi again.
I honestly cannot say how unusual it is,but often an inverted nipple is caused by other benign conditions and not necessarily indicative of breast cancer. It is concerning if other symptoms such as flaking, itching, nipple discharge, breast swelling and scaling of the nipple are also present.
Hang in there, soon her Doctor will let both of you know after your wife goes through a clinical breast examination and some type of testing.
All the best...
thank you. do you have any idea how unusual it is? I should mention that she's less than 40 too, and it's only on one breast.
An inverted nipple is not that unusual and it's not necessarily a sign of breast cancer...There are several things that could cause an inverted nipple, for example,an inflammation or infected ducts in the breast,a benign tumor or a cyst, but sometimes it could also be a sign of a serious underlying condition. It's a good thing that your wife is having this problem investigated by a physician who will most probably order a few tests such as a Mammogram/Ultrasound for a correct diagnosis. .
Sending my best wishes to both you and your wife and hoping that all will turn out just fine for her.
