scar tissue or cacner recurrence?

I have just completed six rounds of fec T chemotherapy and am about to begin 16 treatments of Radiation therapy. THe original tumor was 2.5 mm, grade 3 invasive ductal Carcinoma, negative for hormone receptors, and was removed June 26th 2007.
The radiation encologist doctor wants me to have a F.U. mammogram done before the radiation treatments begin because there is a hard 'lump" and irregular area of "induration" near or under the surgical scar site.

I had a hematoma after the core biopsy and another hematoma after the surgery so perhaps that ahs caused this lumpiness and induration. THe doctor said it was likely this was the case but also expressed a concern that it could be a recurrence of cancer.
I am home now and wondering: How can cancer reoccur when I have been on Chemotherapy since August???
I dont see how it can, but am now worried that it has.

I have now had a mammogramm followed by ultrasound and the radiologist determined that the lump they were concerned about is a benign cyst. Great Relief! Thanks for your support while I awaited these tests.

Hi,
Your in the 5th month of the  postoperative period, and had cycles of chemotherapy. Now you have had a lump beneath the scar tissue.
You had the past history of hematoma which was evacuated.
Can you post your histopathology report and the margins details.
If there had been some collection, probably it would have got organised. It would still be premature to comment on without a proper clinical examination.
Have an appointment scheduled with your surgeon.

thank you for sharing your experience and good outcome. It is encouraging. I will assume the same will be true in my case!

I had a similar lump come up at the 3 round of A/C during chemo.  Turned out to be scar tissue that had necrosed.  They are concerned b/c if the cancer were to return immediately, the scar would be the first place it would show up.  If it is irregular, which mine was, it's probably scar tissue.  Mine finally went away sometime a month or so later.
