BEST TEST

Hi Doc,
Which test is the surest one in detecting breast cancer - Mammography, Ultra Sono Graphy or X-Ray.
When I had a mammography done, they recommended USG and after this, they recommended X-Ray.
I am puzzled and would like to know the surest method which would detect cancer.
Hope you will reply to me in details against each of the above systems.

Dear Lulu:  There are several screening tests for breast cancer clinical breast examination, mammogram, ultrasound, and MRI (in high risk women).  Each has a role is learning more (either increase or decrease suspicion) about the breast but none are diagnostic.  If these tests results are suspicious, a biopsy would be recommended.  A biopsy is the only test that can diagnose breast cancer.

The only test that can definitely diagnose Breast Cancer is some type of biopsy.  Mammogram & Ultrasound can discover suspicious areas but cannot diagnose BC. Ordinary
X-ray would not be a factor in testing for the suspicion of BC.
