I agree with sara...actions speak louder then words and our best witness is for ppl to be able to see the love of JESUS in us..and then they may ask questions or be open to hear what you have to say..then we can share the Good News..of JESUS...God Bless...brian

Sometimes actions speak louder than words.  I have seen some of the ones here struggle with various things and yet thru it all they always stayed true to their faith.  I am one who has struggled with God/religion.  I have asked many a question and i have always been given straight forward answers.  The other day it was about Paul and the thorn in his side....Yes April i am still thinking about that and even discussed it with a coworker!!!  I appreciate all the help i have been given, none of you have been pushy, just very patient with me.  That speaks volumnes.....sara

Oh, and but most of all, it was the witness and friendship of a Christian for a few years.  She, her husband and children all were an inspiration.  I was drawn to their fruits, character, kindness and simplicity.

When I was struggling with the faith years ago, it helped me a lot to watch and read conversion and healing stories such as on shows like the 700 Club and the Journey Home.

"I am writing a Gospel a chapter each day, by deeds that I do and words that I say." VERY AWESOME quote.

Thanks.

People will tell you or other people about a great movie the saw, they will tell you or others about a great resturant where they ate, why not tell others about the greatness of God?

I think we find the prospect of having to "convert" someone daunting. We often feel the need to dumb down the message of the gospel, because quite frankly if we look through the eyes of the flesh, we can't see how a strait message of truth could possibly be received favorably. You can see this line of reasoning so evident in the way the church often wants to deal with the youth...

We can get caught up thinking, that because we mentioned the word Bible or Jesus or something in a conversation that we did some great thing, but absolutely no words, or actions that come from self will convert someone! We are simply messengers so we must definitely give a message, but make sure it is God's message and not one that is mixed with self. The goal is for people to become disciples of Christ and not disciples of self. It is God through the spirit that works on peoples hearts to change them. We just need to get close to Jesus and wear proudly the robe of his righteousness in front of everyone we meet, open our mouths and speak about his glory... And yes that will seem like foolishness to the world, but to some it will be the words of life! :D

Give that person a bible and say "Jesus loves you". Then tell that person to call if they have questions.

I freq try to remember the quotation "I am writing a Gospel a chapter each day, by deeds that I do and words that I say.  I try to let my life reflect what Christ has done then when asked will share.  I also will try to find a common ground such as what makes a marriage work today, how did your hubby stop drinking, etc.  We just had an opportunity to share God's love about an hour ago.  A new acquaintance asked how many years we had been married.  When we said 25 yrs she said that is rare today.  We took the opportunity telling her it was only by God's love and help we were together.  She said she would like to talk to us more about it.  So unexpected but so honest and open chance to share .

Amen! Sometimes God uses us to plant the seed and someone else to water it or vice versa. We don't save people, only the Holy Spirit can do that but He is gracious enough to use these broken vessels to do His work, those who are willing to be used.

I agree with April, people tend to push back and get turned off real quick unless God has softened the heart ahead of time. I usually sum it all up with humor. Something like, we are at war, it is called between God and Satan, choose your side, your future depends on it. If they are interested it opens the door to serious commentary, if not, I gave em something to think about, in other words (I planted a seed). lol

I don't like to preach to people. I've found that simply sharing my own story of what God has done for me usually draws enough interest. They have to be ready and open to hearing about God so it's always best to pray and ask God to guide you in how to act and speak. Some people can actually push people away from God by being too pushy so we need to be careful and always pray first and wait on God as to what to say or do and when.
