A teratoma is a tumor, not to say having a cyst is better than a tumor because cysts can be malignant too. I was just pointing out that cysts and tumors are different.
i think that's a bit of a relief for me, Londres...thank you so much...
knowing that cysts can cause no problems and that they can disappear too.. but i think i have to agree with you that i need to find out about the cyst i have....
teratoma is not a cyst... is that a good thing or a bad thing?...
i am going to make an appointment to get the transvag usg next week..hopefully i will get in line soon for it.
thank you so much, Londres...
You are welcome. :)
Oh yes, I have cysts on my left ovary, both breasts and my right kidney; lived with them for years. The are small and not causing any problems. Yes, cysts can resolve on their own; "disappear."
Keep in mind a teratoma is NOT a cyst.
Get the transvag. US and see what results would be my recommendation.
I am not sure if this teratoma is raising your CA 19-9 marker; I am thinking this could be a possibility.
hi...i am so sorry for the belated reply... i didn't have a connection to the internet for three days....
thank you so much, once again for the explanation....
there is a recommended hospital in my town to have the transvaginal USG..but there is a very long line... apparently, i have to make an appointment this month to be conducted next month...
i am trying to find another OB GYN to get a second opinion....
some of the women i know said that they didn't get their cyst removed and they're okay..my sister inlaw even told me that she had one before she was pregnant and when she got pregnant with her first child, the cyst got smaller and by the time she gave birth to her second child, the cyst was gone...is this even possible?
my CA 125 is normal...
i am just a bit confused with everything that is happening....
but after reading your explanation, now i know what to look for in the internet...
thank you so much, Londres.....
Gbu.
Oh, to add, forgot, It is common to find mature teratomas in women and usually immature malignant teratomas are found in men.
First, I never seen a CA 19-9 marker used for Ovarian CA screening; usually this marker is related to GI cancers. I have seen a CA-125 marker used to screen for Ovarian CA, but it is NOT always reliable.
Secondly, in regards to the cysts and teratomas, I think he is correct about almost every woman has had or has an ovarian cyst, I have one myself, left ovary, but I cannot agree about the teratomas.
How long do you have to wait for the transvaginal US?
Hang in there. :)
hi Londres... thank you for the reply...
i went to a gynocologist two nights ago and he told me the very same thing you just told me there... that it can also be malignant.
he mentioned something about mature teratoma being the benign ones and immature teratoma is the malignant ones...and that almost every woman has cyst or teratoma in her bodies, but some don't find out about it until much later in life. is this true?
he also told me that men have cyst too also teratoma....
I am still worried about my teratoma... the doctor told me to get a transvaginal usg to look for the location of the cyst and to find out whether it is a teratoma or some kind of other form of cyst or tumor.
unfortunatelly, i won't be able to undergo a transvaginal usg anytime soon because apparently, there is a long line for that proceedure...
i also looked up in Google that sometimes CA 19 9 is used for ovarium cancer screening. is this also true?
thank you so much, Londres70...you have been soooo helpful...thank you.
God bless you.
Yes, it is a tumor; the teratoma. They are usually benign, but they CAN be malignant too.
Hi Londres70...
i just got back from the doctor...
he said that according to my CT Scan result, he doesn't see any tumor or cancer in my pancreas and any other abdomen organ.
Praise The Lord,..
but he did say that there is a teratoma in my left ovari.
do you have any idea what is the deal with having a teratoma? is it still tumor or cancer?
thank you Londres....
ok Londres70...thank you very much for your concern..thank you..
God bless you..
Well, just have to wait, get the scan and hope for the best.
Keep us posted.
sorry for the belated reply..
i was supposed to get a CT Scan today for full abdominal, but the power went off in the hospital that i had to reschedule tomorrow morning...
i am not seeing any specialist yet..just my internist.
he did a USG on me yesterday and he found some kind of a "cloud" at my pancreas tail. he told me to inhale and hold my breathe, the cloud was no longer visible in the USG screen, but when i breathe normally, it's there again...
he didn't have any idea what was that.
i guess i am just gonna have to wait for the CT Scan result now...
the nervousness i get from waiting for the result is making me panic.....
thank you Londres70..
Be concerned but don't panic just yet. You don't have anything definite right now.
You definitely need an endoscopy and/or scan. Are you seeing a GI Specialist at this time?
Keep me posted. Make sure your Internist FOLLOWS up with this.
hi..thank you for replying so fast....
i am going to see my internist tomorrow... if i am scheduled for either CT Scan or Endoscopies, should i be worried?
thank you..
Any GI consult and/or endoscopies scheduled?
