Can anyone help me understand this?

My mother is a very secretive person when it comes to her health. I found a  letter stating that she is schedule to see an oncologist about monoclonal paraproteinemia. I need to know what is an oncologist and what is monoclonal paraproteinemia? Is there anyone who could help me understand this? God Bless

An oncologist is a doctor that treats people with blood disorders/ or issues with the blood.  Monoclonal paraprtoteinemia, I believe has something to do with excess protein in teh blood.  If I were you, I'd ask your mom about her docotr;s visit, and her condition.  Sometimes, the doctor, even under the new "privacy" laws will disclose information to children, especially when concerned with a parent's well being.  God Bless
