Ovarian cancer? please help!

Hi!
I posted this in the womens health section but have had no replies. I went to urgent care two days ago because of some left sided pain. They did an ultrasound which showed a 3 cm complex paraovarian cyst. I have had simple cysts that go away on their own but not a complex one... I am only in my 20's but I am still worried. The doctor did a CA 125 to check to see if its at a higher risk for being cancerous but of course I have to wait all the way until Monday for the results at which point I am supposed to see my obgyn. The report said short term follow up recommended which makes me nervous that they think its something serious. I am scared of surgery and obviously scared of cancer. I guess I'm wondering if its likely ill have either? Also wondering if since its paraovarian meaning its right outside the ovary near the fallopian tube, if it were cancerous, what kind of cancer would it be? Fallopian or ovarian? Also, I just got the mirena put in 8 weeks ago should I consider taking it out?
Thanks for your time!

Catlover gave some excellent advice.

Dear, take a deep breath and try to relax.  No doubt it is scary when you don't know what you are dealing with.

I can't really give you an opinion about whether this is or isn't cancer; just not enough info at this time.

Whether you should continue the Mirena or not.....your GYN Specialist should answer that question.

Back in 2006, my obgyn thought I had ovarian cancer.  It was test after test, so I can relate.  Of course, biopsy had to be performed to see. Waiting is truly so hard.  After she briefed me, it was agreed my ovaries would come out, because the ovarian fibroid condition was so bad.

If I could give you one piece of optimal advice; don't get your ovaries removed.  Let them remove the cyst/cysts, but don't them take your ovaries.  I guess I had multiple cysts.  I wish I would have done my homework better.

When you get your ovaries removed, it is like going through a change of life in less than 24 hours.  I know your moods are frustrating you.  Now,  I feel no sense of vanity, my libido is opressed and I feel like a 90 year old woman trapped in a 40 year old's body.  I did try taking estrogen afterwards, all of which led to terrible headaches.  So, I would have been 34 at the time of surgery.  I have bouts of major depression and don't feel like I'm 40 years old.  It is because my ovaries have been removed.

My advice, we've all had biology classes.  But, study well the affect the ovaries have on a women's depression levels, libido, mood, well being, sense of vanity, etc.  I honestly think you would regret it.  To this day, I still hold no regard for my former obgyn for advocating the removal of them so highly.  Hope this helps.  Good luck.  --Heather

I also wanted to add my list of symptoms... since january I started having super irregular periods which isn't like me which was the reasoning for the mirena to help regulate or stop my periods. Since april I have had sore breasts for no apparent reason I've gained 35 pounds, I'm tired all the time and emotional.... I dunno what to do!!!
