afp levels over 2000

I was tested recently and my afp level was 2000. A week later it was 2333. A ct was done and showed one lobe of my liver swollen and a non calcified nodule of 7mm in my lung. At what point would I expect to be reffered to a cancer doc  I have compensated cirrhosis and a history of hcv    thanks

Thank you for your response, I have portal hypertension and spenomegaly.I have cleared the HCV after years of treatment 5 years now. I have had no other tests and will not know if any are planned until I see my Doc in a couple of weeks Only one lobe of my liver is enlarged and my liver is compensated. My digestion has benn a probleb the last couple of months. A lot of gas and I avoid carbonated drinks and do not use dairy products. They did note on the CT that along with the nodule in my lung there was minor bilateral posterior thickening, whatever that is. Everything I have read states any AFP over 1000 is indicative of cancer. My worry is that it is mettastic cancer and not just liver cancer.I also have a bad heart and surgery would be ruled out. I am anxious as the best way to get a diagnosis so I can plan ahead

Hi.
How are doing?
Aside from CT scan, what other laboratory examinations were performed on you?   Cirrhosis and hepatitis are risk factors for the development of hepatocellular carcinoma.  Your AFP level is markedly elevated.  In hepatocellular carcinoma, the liver is enlarged in 50% to 90% of patients.  Other signs and symptoms include weight loss, muscle wasting, jaundice, ascites (fluid in the abdominal cavity), and splenomegaly (enlargement of the spleen).
You may need to go to your doctor for further evaluation.
Take care.
