Hi,
Most cases of endometrial cancer develop in postmenopausal women, whose periods have stopped. However, a small percentage of cases affect women younger than 40.
In endometrial cancer, cancer cells develop in the lining of the uterus. Scientists believe that estrogen levels play a role in the development of endometrial cancer.
Primarily this is a cancer of women in their 40's and 50's and many of the symptoms you experience may be associated with noncancerous (benign) conditions, such as vaginal infections, uterine fibroids or uterine polyps.
The thickness of the endometrium even in a normal menstrual cycle is in the mm range, thus making the value of 2.2 cm very high. However that in itself is not indicative of cacer.
Apart from the ultrasound, other tests like D&C and endometrial biopsy may be done to confirm or rule out the presence of cancer.
So you will have to wait and see what your appointment with gynae will suggest.
