after surgery -recovery road ,questions

Hello everyone who reads this post:  I have now been aprox 3.5 weeks out of surgery for removal of melanoma on toe
and limpnode (skin graff)  I feel pretty normal -except the toes that were operated on, I have question if anyone can ansure it please, I keep getting tingling feelings and like needles and pins mostly on top of the skin graff area - its off and on , sometimes mild and sometimes painfull.  I also get on the bottom of front of foot (area of graff) aches and pains at times, again off and on - my daily Nurse says its normal and will happen for months, untill the the area heals up.  but all looks normal and its healing good ?  to me it looks like someone shot my toes lol.  what do I know ?
I take vicodin for pain 3 to 4 times a day and antiboitics to keep infection away.  so far so good they say.

Im wondering if anyone had a skin graff and would know how long it takes for healing process to happen, and pains and the darn needles and pins to stop ! as sometimes it feels more like Nails and sandpaper !  rubbing on top the area

im in a soft cast on the left foot - and the Nurse changes the bandages daily and cleans the area as doctor wants.
I also had some sorted off and on bleeding around the graff area  mostly on the bottom of the front of the foot ..
as Im guessing pressure from standing and or falling on ones foot ,since im crutches could have caused this to happen!   im ok now.. but would sure like know, how long it takes to heal up , to where the pains stop or go down
so I can sleep at night !  as iv been wakeing up suddenly with toe and foot pains !  and must take pain pill to stop it.
Oh me oh my!!   what fun !!

Im happy to be alive - and thank God for every single day I live.   seems there is no freedom from lifes pains !

thanks to all who ansure this posting   - BN.

Hello Ed, no I agree, don't give up your screen name. It's ok. Take for instance my screen name (Twilight Princess) that's a Zelda/Link VIDEO game - LOL!

I don't understand why no one has answered you either, but maybe these people don't know about melanoma's that's why you didn't get a response yet.

I should email you and tell you the latest on my new prescription and the awful side effects I've been having - at least get your mind off of your pain for a little while anyway. Go watch TV and keep the foot elevated maybe that would help with the pain?

Take care and speak soon :)

thank you -
Im not giving up the good fight, but giving up the screen name - at first thought it was funny, but now I can see it wasnt and isnt funny at all..

I will seek to change it soon !

the recovery is very slow , but it is healing up - my big problem is walking with crutches and not falling down !   as I lost it day before yesterday !  turns out the hospital gave me a set of alum crutches (made in china)  lol - figures dont it !  the left wing nut on the handle got loose and fell out ! thus the handle gave way and down I went !!
My daily Nurse said im ok, that it just hurts and slows the healing process down a bit. when I fall or jar the area..

Im going to buy a new set of wood crutches from Oak !   and have them adjusted , they are heavy but do a better job than do the alum types.
plus they are made here in the u.s.a.   and not china !!

well oncologest on monday for a review - and we go from there.. on the healing process !  and recovery.

thanks again for replying . I can always count on good friends.. and kind people who care..  thanks again Ed.

oh Ed, don't retire your name!!  I'm sorry that nobody has answered your question, and although I'm not qualified to do so, I can only guess that it has to do with the nerve endings healing.   When you see the doc tomorrow, ask him specifically about your worries. Write them down as you're thinking of them please..that will help.

I know the doctors on this board are hit and miss because they're so busy, and I'm sure someone will answer you soon.

I'm so glad that you're recovering, even though its a long slow and sometimes painful road.  Don't give up, and try to keep your chin up! I'm pullin for ya!!
