just a quick question

hi all just a question really ive been having some worrying symptoms now for a while well nearly a year so here goes. i started in june 2008 witha swollen lymph node in my neck and groin started to feel tired alot but otherwise fine GP said to allow them time to go doen which i did. i went back in december 2008 because i had 5 swollen lymph nodes on the left side of my neck and 3 either side of my groin and one in the groin was around 4cm in size i was refferred to hospital and from dec to jan 18th of my appointment id lost 3 stones in weight and had increasing symptoms tiredness, easyily bruising, bleeding gums ENT decided to do ultrasound which said 2 of the 5 were concerning and one growing inwards ENT decided to biopsy the results came back reactive at which point i was told the 2 concerning ones were not removed but it was another! i was refferred to general medicine to deal with weight loss and groin lumps who then ruled out thyroid problems and refferred me to general surgery and haemotology i had a CT scan with contrast to check for blockages to bowel or stomach which was clear. GM suspected lymphoma or leaukemia. biopsy on groin came back reactive with black pigmentation in both nodes removed i now have 34 lumps i face, jaw, under chin and neck. then lumps under both armpits and more in groin and on hip bone ive now lost a total of 5 stone since dec 08 i have severe night sweats timed to the hour every night, i have hot and cold temperature changes, severe tiredness and joint pains ive also started to notice pain under my left and right ribs just under my ribcage and what seems like slight swelling im at my wits end im going back to ENT to have my neck looked at again and waiting on a decision as to whether or not i see a spacialist in rare diseases i just wondered if anybody had any insight into this hell im in im 23 years old and feel old and frail i cant even play with my toddlers anymore i get too tired i have to eat 4000 calories a day to maintain my weight at 8st 1lb i dont know what else to do, please post if you have any advice thanks for reading the essay

thank you for your reply one biopsy in neck was reactive but they said the node next to it may be positive and the two lymph nodes taken from either side of the groin also reactive except black pigmentation in both both times i had the excisional biopsy but the rate these nodes are popping up and growing is now starting to concern me all blood tests clear no infections no viruses and no sign of EBV they have tested me for HIV aids sexually transmitted diseases all clear blood counts normal thyroid normal im awaiting next appointment with ENT on the 26th of may to see if they will go ahead with another biopsy two of the lupms in my neck run down either side of my windpipe and have slowly grown from a pea sized hard lump to what now i can only estimate as about 8 or 9 cm in length but they told me they cant remove due to how close they are to my windpipe

Your symptoms sound all too familiar to symptoms that my 80 year old mother had a year and a half ago. Her problems started with a swollen lymph node on the right side of her throat along with drenching night sweats, severe itch all over her body and weight loss.
Thyroid disorders; allergies to medications; and skin diseases were ruled out. Ultimately, she was referred to an oncologist. And, the pathology of a surgical biopsy returned positive for Hodgkin's Disease. She also has swollen lymph glands on both sides of her groin. The biopsy pathology of those lymph nodes revealed that she also has non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma.
Now, this isn't to say, that this is what you have. Only a biopsy can confirm or eliminate the presence of Cancer. But, clearly, your immune is fight off some kind of aggressive and ongoing disorder. If you haven't had one already, I would insist on having a biopsy... a surgical biopsy. In my mother's case, a needle (aspiration) biopsy of the swollen lymph nodes on both her throat and in her groin were inconclusive. It was the surgical biopsy that identified the problem.
