My cat got poked in the eye

My 5 year old daughter was playing with ner hew kitten who is approx. 14 weeks old.  She was using one of those feather on a stick toys and accidently poked the kitten in the eye.  The kitten's eye is swollen and watering a little bit.  It just happened lastnight and so I was going to wait it out a couple of days to see what happens.  What do you think???

My God, this sounds terrible, and if you are willing to take this cat to a vet, then stop wasting time waiting for a Guess on the Internet.  Go! Right NOW!

No problem. I'm glad it worked out. Cats are prone to inner eyelid infections. If I had a nickel for every cat I've picked up in the foster program who would still have use of both eyes if it had only gotten some drops and some antibiotic...well, I could open a little kitty farm upstate. The cats could milk cows and farm the land into the wee hours of the day! :)

Thanks for the response!  I took my kitten to the Vet tonight because both eyes looked bad - She was diagnosed with "pink eye" - conjunctivitis and they put her on eye drops..   They gave her some sort of eye test and there was no damage to her eyes.  Even though my daughter admitted to poking the kitten, it was a coincidence that she developed the infection at the same time!    That feather stick toy is in the trash!!!   Thanks again!

If you see any hint of infection, (white puss, swelling of the lid, etc) you should take the kitten to a vet immediately. An eye infection can explode over night and cost the kitten the eye in less ta a day or two. They're very prone to them.

I can now see the secondary eyelid is now swollen....  She is acting fine and eating and playing but I feel so bad, she is squinting and it looks very irritated....
