Hairballs!

Well, I am sure this question has been asked and answered and debated for years now, but what are the best things to do for hairballs? It seems like at any given moment of the day, one of my cats (I have 6 of them) is barfing up a hairball! I seem to go through gallons of spray cleaner! I have tried the usual remedies. Hairball control dry food, the gel in the tubes, hairball control treats, etc.  Nothing seems to help! It's really scary to watch them struggle to get it up! Is there really anything that works? Or is it something that we just continue to live with! The good news is that it does slow down some in the Fall and Winter! Any unique ideas would be appreciated! Thanks all, I sure do love this place!

I had some of this with Tweety and started to get a dry food mix that controls hair balls .she still does it but only sometimes ..I make sure she gets water a lot I also think in hot weather it helps .

I have both a bristle brush and a medium width comb! My vet said to use the comb to get the undercoat! I've just not done it enough!

Def a good idea ESP when it's hotter outside. Do u use a brush or a comb?  A comb might get more loose hairs than a brush.

how often do you groom your cats?  the reason it slows down durring the fall and winter is because they arnt shedding as much.  try brushing your cats often (atleast once a week durring the fall and winter and more durring the spring and summer when they shed the most)  the hairballs are being formed when they are cleaning themselves and the hair that the shed gets built up into their system and the only way to get it out is to hack it up.
