scabs on back

My cat has scabs along his spine and around his back top of tail area.  He is on flea meds, and I check for fleas regularly.  His scabs do not seem to bother him. He rarely scratches. The scabs are practically invisible.  A couple are little red dots, mostly they can't be seen, but felt.  His ears are clear and clean.  Belly is the same.  I have put him on a antibiotic that does seem to clear this up for a while, but it always comes back.  It is not contagious because none of my other cats get this, even though they all sleep together.  He is indoor (mostly indoor)/outdoor and is always in at night.  he was a stray/drop off and probably about 5-8 years old.

What sort of flea meds are you giving her?

hi chloe,

Well it does sound like a flea allergy to me, but only a skin scrapping at the vets can rule out parasitic or fungal. Also check the flea meds themselves , that could be causing an allergic reaction. She may be flealess, but now the meds are bothering her.

I would not suggest self medicating our cats without knowing the diagnosis from a Vet, and obtaining the correct meds from them. Using meds that are not the right ones can cause more harm than good, So please check with you Vet.

I am sure others here will chime in with some suggestions also.
Good luck and keep us posted if you would.
Thanks,
CML
