Cats can get growths/tumors. It would be best to get it checked to see if it needs removal. These things do tend to lead to problems down the line even if they're not malignant.
(Sometimes they can be inclined to infection from impact/rubbing).
no it isnt a tick and the lump is black and so is the cat the only part that doesnt have hair is the black thing. it doesnt bother him either
Make sure it isn't a tick. People often mistake ticks for moles, skin flaps, lumps, etc. Look at it carefully. I know it's probably not the season, but it is possible!
Cats can't get moles that I'm aware of. Is the fur missing from this area? What's the cats coloration and the coloration of the lump?
