6 Year old needs to be first and best

My 6 year old son Has to be 1st in line at all times at school. This is so bad that he doesn't even play with his friends anymore at recess. Instead he stands in the front spot the entire 20 minutes waiting for the bell.
He is a very good 1st grade student. He has all 100% marks on every paper. He's at the 3rd grade reading level. Everything he does has to be in order and on time. Teachers and kids love him. How can I help him to relax a little and just be a normal kid? He expects perfection and hates competition. I'm so heart broken to see him stand alone on the playground waiting for the bell. He says he's fine with it. Please help.
Thanks, JTF

If he says he's fine then take him at his word, you care so much you dont want him to feel hurt, maybe he doesnt feel as hurt as you think he does.He sounds like a great kid,and well liked, relax ,dont be broken hearted, hes doing okay at least he thinks he is, focus on his positive side.Let it go and dont feed into any issue about it.
