My 8 year old son was found to have touched his feces in the bathroom at school. From what I am being told by the principle, he smeared it on the sink and toilet seat. My son swears it was only on the sink. When confronted, he didn't lie or try to deny it at all. This has NEVER happened before. He has never had a problem going to the bathroom or cleaning him self. He has a very sensitive stomach and tends to gag at everything. My husband and I have had long talks with him and he doesn't change his story at all. He says he thought his friends would think it was funny. The other aspect to this story is the day this happened, my son had read a book from the school library. There was a song in the book about diaharea. The kids sang it on the way home on the bus the day before my son decided to do this. The song mentioned poop and the kids thought it was hysterical. My husband mentioned this to the principal. He said he would remove the book from the library. We live in relatively small school district. So as you can imagine, other kids found out what he did. They have picked on him and I feel really bad for him. The school told me (which I don't know if they were protecting themselves somehow) that at this age, him touching his feces could be a sign of abuse. We have talked to him about the good touch, bad touch and I don't see this being the case AT ALL. Like I said previously, this is the only case we know about. What should I do? Should I be concerned? Another issue I seem to be having is I have a friend who seems to be pulling away from me since this happened. Is she afraid my child has a problem and doesn't want her kids around mine. Her son seems to continue to be the biggest "bully" towards my son and keeps bringing the incident up.
