4 year old behavior

I have a 4 and half year old son. At school he is a pleasure to have in class has to be prompted to do his work but never argues does everything he is asked to do.

At home he is happy about 75% of the time. But when he gets angry he'll hit, kick, punch, pinch, throw things hold things as weapons up to my neck. And he just starts backtalking saying I hate you your not beautiful I don't like you I'm calling the police on you your going to time out etc.

I use the 1,2,3 and then timeout in his room. He will grab onto the wall or railing so it becomes a power struggle for me and then I put him in his room and close the door and I have to hold it so he won't come out he starts throwing things at the door kicking the door destroying his room. Is this normal behavior am I doing something wrong. They never see any of this at school. He is always right on the border for speech just above it so he doesn't receive services but I know hes frustrated with that but he doesn't do any of this in school. So just wondering if its normal and if anyone has any suggestions of what I can do to make life easier for him and myself.

Yes I am married to his father. DH works a lot of OT but has been home a lot lately and haven't noticed much of a change. Tonight he got angry with his sister and he grabbed her face and left a big red mark under her eye

Are you married to his father,  and is his father in the house?  To me,  this sounds like pretty typical boy behavior if they have no dad.
