5-year-boy doesn't like to talk

My 5-year-old son is a quite kid in general. He doesn't have language problems. But he often ignore people when they talk to him. Sometimes he acts like he didn't hear at all. Other times he seems like he simply doesn't want to talk.
  
He never wants to talk about school although he loves going to school. Teachers have always told me that he is smart and gets along with other kids very well although he doesn't talk much.

He has had 10 private piano lessons and the teacher probably only heard he said 10 words. He didn't even answer teacher's question like "do you have brothers and sisters?". He told me he likes the teacher but I think the teacher is kind frustrated with him.

Should I bring him to see a doctor to seek for some communication trainings? I really want him to open up to me and others.

Does he like to talk to you? How is his reciprocal speech?

My son finds reciprocal communication pretty hard - and sometimes he just states "I do not want to takl":) Especially when I ask about school, he likes school as well.

His expressive speech is great though, he just does not get back-and-forth part of conversation yet.


He is 4 years old

What have helped me - just wait for an answer - make sure that he understands that he has to respond when asked a question.....Do not be satisfied with no answer.....
