Anxiety in my 3 year old

My 3 year old daughter has really bad separation anxiety and it is not your normal everyday separation anxiety. She is fine when I drop her at daycare, she is happy there (although it took her 4 months to stop crying at the door), She cries when I go outside to put the washing in the washing machine let alone go somewhere without her, I can't leave her with any babysitters or my parents, I can't even leave her with my husband. She won't let anyone else dress her, make food for her, tuck her into bed at night. When I ask her why does she behave this way she says " because I wanted you mummy" I am seriously thinking about taking her to a psychotherapist or child psychologist because it is starting to take it's toll on me, her 2 year old sister has caught on and now she is developing the same patterns copying her older sister's behaviour, I need some advice....

Thank you for the info.
I know they are not suppose to,legally, but where I live, they work around it. I have seen it done. (sad huh?)

I agree she needs to overcome this, but two in my neighborhood two families went through this, and in both cases the kids outgrew it. I know the parents were very frustrated with  it though, and they had to work with the kids, but it turned out well for them.

A psychologist or a psychotherapist can NOT prescribe medication.  Only a psychiatrist or medical doctor can do that.  But, this child needs help in "managing" her fears and the two medical personnel the poster mentioned should be able to do that (the most important people in this "managing plan" will be her parents).  Hope this is informative and will alleviate some of your worries ....

You are wise to go to a child psychologist or psychotherapist.  Your daughter is suffering and it appears you are enabling her behaviour.  The professional should be able to give "you" ways to help your daughter manager her fears/anxieties.  A good mental health "professional" works with the entire family; not just the child.  All the best ...
