My daughter just turned 12 and for like the last year she has been talking to herself.Shell be talking to me and at the same time be talking to someone else.I wake up in the middle of the night and find her awake talking to ''someone''.She'll go off on the playground away from the other kids and talk to herself. She takes lamictal for seizures and has hydrocephalus. She is shunted with a vp shunt.I dont know if this has anything to do with this but I am very curious as to if I need to be worried. Its like shes in her own little world and not in touch with reality. Please help.

She doesnt tell me and she hasn't had anyone die.During her last seizure she was doing this and upon coming out of the seizure, she started talking to ''her imaginary friend''??-her docs getting her in to see a psychiatrist in a few weeks.I ve never heard of this, its awkward.

Did someone die recently who was close to her? She may miss them so much that she thinks they're still around. If that's the case then maybe you should talk to her about letting go of loved ones. Another case is , she may be lonely and have an imaginary friend.

I have heard of kids having phantom friends, ask her about it and who is she talking to.

Could be some Anxiety there ask your Doc also ask if the Meds would cause any differant behavior, it sounds harrmless but ask the person treating her.
