Concerned: Normal Sexual Exploration?

Hi,

I am a first-time parent.  I have a 4-year old daughter that I caught with her hands "in the cookie jar."  Basically, she had managed to remove her father's private part from his pants while he was sleeping.  She was "playing" with it, and I am just wondering if this is normal behavior or a sign of an underlying problem.  Otherwise, her behavior is normal.  She's hyperactive but intelligent. Help!

As I posted earlier, I find it odd that a mother would describe this incident in such a light-hearted manner, getting her "hand caught in the cookie jar".   Additonally, I find it difficult to imagine that the father in this situation would not have awakened, as others posted.  In short, I have doubts regarding the genuiness of this post.  If I am wrong.  Then I appolgize.  If this did indeed happen, please do something, find out whats going on with your child.  Again, this forum is all about providing opinions and this is merely my opinion.

OP: I really hope you have read our posts - your post was very alarming and I hope you investigate this situation.  You were right to ask if this is normal, and we are telling you it isn't.  I hope you are not offended and I hope you get some help for your little girl.  Best wishes

I have never known a 4 year old to behave in this way.  Someone is teaching this child to behave in a sexual manner.  My guess is your husband.  You need to see a ped. immediately.

I agree with koukla.  This strikes me as very troubling.  The way that you describe this incident as your dtr. being "caught with her hands in the cookie jar" strikes me as rather inappropriate as well.

This is not normal behavior.  I have never heard of a child doing this - or a man sleeping through something like that.  This is too explicit in nature to be normal exploration.  Is there a chance your husband has shown her how to play with his penis?

I would be extremely worried about the possibility molestation/sexual abuse.  I wish you the best of luck in handling this situation.

I think it was probably just normal curiosity but I do think it odd that your husband didn't wake up during this "playing".
