Nothing serious...

This isn't anything serious (at least I don't think it is!) I was just curious if anyone else had experience with this.
My daughter is 26 months and here recently on occassion if I ask her to do something or try to correct her she's starts singing the ABC's.  I just thought it was kind of unique...Anyone with similar experiences??

She sounds like a very smart child to do that at 2 year old , maybe I'll try that on the old man hum and sing the ABCs  it doesnt sound like its a problem though, I'd call it interesting behavior,

Thank you all for replying.  She is my first and in our group of friends she's the oldest.  So, it's a new experience for us.  I do follow through, although I must admit after she goes to do what I asked of her, I find myself smiling cause, it's really kind of cute!!

Sounds like it is her way of "tuning you out". The same as covering her ears and saying "Blah-blah-blah". Make sure that you follow through with your request so she does not get to avoid whatever is asked.

I do not think it is all that unusual. My son tries to sing, dance, hop around, hug and kiss - in order to avoid doing something he is asked to do.

Maybe I can explain more...She is purposely ignorning me and chosing to sing a song while ignorning me. Because it's only when she's being corrected or being told to do something.  As opposed to just outright not listening she decides to look away and sing. I'm not worried or anything.  I just have never heard of a kid doing something like that b4, thought I'd ask around.

i f I get what you mean.. perhaps she is simply copying what she hears you say?Shes only 2 year old ,who sings the ABCs to her. my guess,,you ,maybe when you ask her to do something it is her way of communicating having heard you do the same tihng.. Being honest, I am guessing , however there could be other folks here who have had the same with their children .
