8 month old doesn't babble. Anyone?

My boy is 8 months + 10 days old. He doesn't babble. He does make sounds with vowels, like Oohs & Aahs. He blows raspberries alot, this week more than ever before. Squeels, laughs & smiles alot. He has occasionally made sounds with what to me sounded like consonants, for example "Giii", "Ga", "Ka", "Kiii", "Ba" but it's rare! Once I heard a "Ma". He says "Heeyyy" alot or more like "Eyy" sometimes. And he says that when he looks at us, just like he's greeting us.

Milestones scare me and reading those is like shooting myself in the foot.

Anyone with experience from this? Any other late babblers? :) Hope you can reassure me.

Thank you! I'm just freaked out by the milestones and all the warnings about this and that. Hard to know if baby is normal when I don't meet other babies.

This is totally normal, kids start speaking at all different ages.  Einstein didn't speak until he was 4!  I raised three kids, and each progressed at a different rate.  Don't compare him to other kids, this will make you crazy.  He will understand a lot more words before he will be able to say them.  Once he starts talking, you'll miss these days! LOL  Just enjoy him, he will grow up fast enough.  Take care.

Hi,
I'm no professional but as a first time mom i have read a lot of books and they all say that all babies are different and they grow at different paces. In some cases babies that are born premature delay a little but eventually catch up with kids their age as they grow.It doesn't mean that there is anything wrong. Just give him time and read to him as much as you can the more you read and talk to him the better it will be for him. What I did with my daughter and still do is i have conversations with her even though i may not understand a lot of what she says i just say "oh really" or "tell me more" and it makes her feel good to know that she can talk with mommy just like she sees mommy and daddy do it. and because of me doing this she has added a lot of words to her vocabulary. Good Luck!

What you're describing sounds like babbling to me.

He sounds completely on track.

Enjoy him.  You won't believe how fast this very  joyful time passes.  In 16 years you'll be laughing,   "we were worried about THAT?  God,  those were  the good times."  ;D

Don't sweat this small stuff!
