LOL! anxiousmomtobe. There seems to be always "something" when it comes to raising kids, so take heart. There are good days and bad days and days when its both. You should make sure you have eye contact with your child when you are talking to him/her and let him know that he must listen to you. If he doesn't follow directions, instructions, rules then there will be a consequence i.e. time out, loss of privaledge. Its important to work on listening skills and following directions prior to kids starting Kindergarten. They will be much more comfortable if they have practice listening and following directions without having to be asked 3 times. His teacher will thank you. Give praise, hugs for good listening and good direction following.
