Severe neck/shoulder/back pain for 2 weeks

I'm 29 and full time student and nurse. About 2 weeks ago my neck started hurting pretty badly and then I got severe headaches. I tried taking everything from tylenol, motrin,  to vicodin and nothing helped. It continued to get worse and moved down my back. When I point my chin towards my chest it feels like every muscle from the back of my head to my tailbone is tightened and pulling. I went to my primary doc and he thought it was occipital neuralgia causing headaches. I recieved 2 occipital nerve blocks for the headache, Robaxin and Indomethacin for the neck and back. The headache was gone almost instantly, but the neck and back still seem to be getting worse. I thought this might be from carrying a backpack or from lifting, which I've stopped both for 2 weeks, but not improving. Any ideas on why this is happening or suggestions on how to fix it would be GREATLY appreciated!!! Thanks

Thanks for the very prompt response and advice! I hadn't heard of the nerve block used for that before, but at the time, I didn't care, I needed help. But you are right it was only temporary! Now I'm hurting just as bad as ever. I will definetly look at that site and see if I can find someone to help me. Thanks again!

Nerve blocks are awfully extreme measures to take, in my opinion.

"Physical" problems such as this require physical solutions. Chemical remedies are temporary at best. I'm going to recommend you find a cervical specialist in your area on this website: www.UpCspine.com

They should be able to help the cause of your problem, instead of just dealing with its effects.
