I'm glad I could help.

Being 250-lbs does not cause lower back pain. There are plenty of people around who weight 250-lbs or more and don't have the same problem your husband has... However, being overweight certainly doesn't help the underlying cause of his low back pain if it's structural in nature.

For example, if someone who weighs 150-lbs has low back pain for a while, and then slowly gains another 100-lbs over the next five years, you can bet that his back pain will get worse because of it.

Thanks for visiting the Chiropractic Care forum.

As for your husband's question, there are a lot of different causes for low back pain... So I won't be able to give you a specific answer, however, here are some:

* Spinal misalignment
* Nerve irritation
* Muscle spasm
* Side effects from medication
* Arthritis
* Disc herniation
* Facet injury
* Fractures
* Dehydration
* Tumors
* Ligament damage
* Poor posture

To find out for sure, your husband should speak with a doctor and receive a thorough examination. Your back pain could be relatively simple to correct, or be more serious. Visiting a chiropractor might be a great place to start.

Warm wishes,
