Having a dog when you have COPD

My husband brought home a german shepard puppy. I have been diagnosed with mild emphysema. He brushes the dog every day and bathes her once a week. Can we keep her or will it make my condition worse?

IT can be a very good thing for you both due to having to get up and walk the dog! My husband has COPD and his symptoms got so much better after long walks with dog and trips to the dog park. IT has helped him tremendously and I have lost a few pounds as well! Good Move for you both!

The presence of the puppy should not effect your condition in any significant way.  Unless, of course you are allergic to dog dander.
